Under Shelf SCOB LED Strip | White 272 LEDs/m 10mm 24V IP20 - Warm White 2700K / 1 Metre is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Description
An under shelf LED strip should light the shelf, not your eyes. At 10mm wide this SCOB strip hides inside the front lip of a shelf underside, and 272 LEDs per metre lay a flat, dot-free wash across books, glassware and display pieces, not a row of hotspots.
Cut to order from 1 to 10 metres in five colour temperatures: 2700K and 3000K warm white for alcove shelving and bookshelves, 4000K natural white for open shelving, and 5000K or 6500K for contrast on darker objects. 24V DC · 9W per metre · IP20 indoor dry areas only.
What is SCOB, and how does it differ from standard COB on a shelf?
SCOB runs the chips in one line under a single continuous phosphor coating, so the lit face reads as one bar rather than 272 separate points. On a shelf underside the viewer sits below the strip, and that sightline is where a dotted strip gives itself away on gloss and glass.
Standard COB blends its dots; SCOB tightens that line further and holds the beam narrower, which counts on a display shelf only 200mm deep.
What does the 29.4mm cut interval mean when I size a strip to my shelf?
The strip cuts only every 29.4mm, on the marked copper pads. A 1,200mm shelving unit takes 40 segments, or 1,176mm of strip, leaving a 24mm shortfall you push into the back corner where nobody looks. Round down every time and never stretch a run to fit.
Measure the shelf underside, divide by 29.4, then drop to the whole number below. Two floating shelves of different lengths are best cut from one continuous run.
What do I need besides the strip itself?
Three things: a constant-voltage 24V driver sized roughly 20% above total load, an aluminium profile with a diffuser, and solderless connectors. Five metres draws 45W, so specify a 60W driver. Colour-changing versions need a dedicated controller rather than a wall dimmer.
- Driver headroom: a driver at full rated output runs hot and fails early. The 20% margin is cheap reliability.
- Insulation: tape fixed onto a metal shelving unit can short against the frame, so use a profile or insulating backing.
- Before powering up: unroll the whole reel, because a coiled strip traps its own heat and ruins the adhesive.
- Where it belongs: IP20 suits a bookshelf or indoor shelving unit, never a bathroom zone or outdoors.
