Under Shelf SCOB LED Strip | Blue 272 LEDs/m 10mm 24V IP20

Blue under shelf lighting is for atmosphere, not task light. Fitted to the shelf underside, this SCOB strip lays one fixed blue wash over bottles, vinyl, consoles or models. Its 272 LEDs per metre sit beneath a continuous phosphor coating, so the line reads as dot-free colour, not pinpoints.

Cut to order from 1 to 10 metres, it measures 10mm wide, draws 9W per metre and runs on 24V DC. IP20 rated: dry indoor shelving only, never a bathroom zone or outdoors.

Where does blue shelf lighting actually work?

Blue belongs on display shelving, not working shelving. It suits home bar shelves behind glassware, gaming and media units, alcove shelving holding a collection, and floating shelves treated as a feature. Choose white strip for bookshelves and anywhere someone reads or checks detail.

Blue renders almost nothing accurately. Printed text and labels flatten under it, so it underperforms above a reading shelf and excels above glass, chrome and gloss, where 9W per metre catches every edge.

Does this blue strip need a controller?

No. It is a single fixed colour, so there is no channel to mix and no controller to buy. You need one constant-voltage 24V driver sized roughly 20% above total load: a 5 metre run at 9W per metre pulls 45W, so a 60W driver suits.

RGB and RGBW strip needs a controller to blend its channels; this one has none, which removes a box, a remote and a failure point. To vary the level, fit a 24V dimmer between driver and strip, not a mains wall dimmer. Never run the strip coiled on the reel, and never lay it on bare metal without insulation. Match it to a 24V constant-voltage driver.

How do I size and cut it to my shelf?

Measure the shelf underside and take 20mm off each end so the strip stays hidden from standing height. Cut points sit every 29.4mm. A 1 metre shelf leaves 960mm of usable run, and the nearest cut line below that is 940.8mm, or 32 segments.

1. Cut cold: disconnect the driver, then cut only on the marked line.
2. Mount in channel: the 10mm width fits standard aluminium profiles, which spread heat and hide the strip edge.
3. Set it back: keep the profile 15–20mm behind the shelf front so you see blue on the objects, not the strip.
